I went to the business school at the University of Minnesota and graduated with a B.B.A and went to work for International Harvester Co. in Minneapolis. I was in a training program for a year and working in all the departments of the company. I worked as a truck salesman for a year and then worked as an Assistant Zone Manager calling on dealers, I became a Zone Manager in Southern Minnesota calling on dealers and finally became a Store Manager in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Transferred to Tulsa, Oklahoma as a Store Manager and had approximately 60 employees. Then I traveled to Chicago to get special training and then transferred to Denver as an Assistant District Manager in charge of wholesale sales to dealers. After 3 years I bought out the International Dealer in Grand Junction, Co in 1968 and sold the dealership to my son in 1998.
Words of wisdom: The optimist sees opportunity in every danger-the pessimist sees danger in every opportunity.
One of the many reasons I enjoy being a Grand Junction SBDC business coach is I feel like my coaching is helping our clients.
